For each awards region, we calculate three categories for the StarMine Analyst Awards:

Stock Recommendation Awards
Analysts are ranked according to how their stock recommendations have performed relative to their industry benchmark. Awards are given on an overall and industry basis.

Earnings Estimator Awards
Recognize analysts who are more accurate than their peers in forecasting earnings. Credit is awarded to those who demonstrate an ability to make accurate estimates earlier than their peers.

Award-Winning Brokers
Recognize the brokerage firms whose analysts compile the most analyst awards. Note, this category is separate from StarMine's Broker Rankings, which recognize aggregated broker performance on regional indexes.

We calculate two types of scores on each stock a broker covers:

Stock Recommendation Awards
In the recommendation category, brokers score well if they recommend a "buy" on a stock that outperforms its industry, a "hold" on a stock that stays in-line with its industry, and a "sell" on a stock that underperforms its industry.

Earnings Estimate Awards
In the estimates category, brokers score well for issuing estimates that are timely, significantly different from consensus, and more accurate than consensus.

StarMine aggregates brokers' stock-level scores to arrive at separate rankings for stock recommendations and earnings estimates.
